You might have already seen this, but I love this article that was posted at AfterElton.com:

Perhaps the distinction lies in the fact that straight men have assumed the dominant role in heterosexual relationships for centuries, whereas in a relationship between two men, both enter it without traditional gender stereotypes.

The "non-equality" ... in a m/m relationship doesn't come from the gender of the participants and the roles they're expected to play/fill because of that gender, but rather from their individual personal characteristics and the dynamics of that particular relationship.

A THOUSAND TIMES YES, THAT IS EXACTLY IT. Of course there is the hotness factor too (OBVIOUSLY), but it's really interesting to note that it seems I get the most flack from women who don't oppose stereotypical gender roles (I'm referring to fandom/loving gay men/slashing).

After taking a critical gender studies course this quarter, it opened up a whole new dialogue because I could bring up issues of feminism and gender roles through out the year to a lot of different people and have specific questions to ask. Besides getting called a feminazi (He was joking, but that's still not okay), it went pretty well because I learned a lot about my friends that I didn't know before. AND although it's easy to tell who buys into stereotypical behavior in order to try and get what they think they want (GROSS), it's hard to understand their motivation and for me that was the biggest challenge. I'm still not 100% sure about the reasons why yet, but I have some pretty good ideas. Women are half the population. If we all stood up together to stop gender discrimination, we could win (at least make it way better than it is). I do know it's much harder to go against the grain, so to speak, and that's mostly because other women won't stop the oppression. They would rather oppress other women in order to propel themselves forward. That is where the real problem lies, and that is what I want to investigate more thoroughly.

So yes, gay men are attractive because for me they represent how relationships could be if gender stereotypes were tossed aside and people actually built relationships on individual character instead of expectations.

I LOVED how the article kept mentioning Sam/Dean. Those boys are EPIC. ♥ I wonder if Kripke knows he is inadvertently fighting for gender equality by his characters serving as examples? (HELL, HE DOES IT ON PURPOSE, DOESN'T HE!). And the Torchwood DVDs are totally on my Christmas list, btw :)

DUDE. I LOVED THIS EPISODE. There has been so much stupid shit and cliches and random dumb lines but that's okay because I had SO MUCH FUN watching this episode!

Nicole annoys the crap out of me. *shrugs* Oliva used to, but she grew on me. Plus, I've always liked Lloyd, I'm not sure why. After this episode I am totally shipping the Lloyd and Olivia hotness. The two of them bring out a totally different chemistry with their screen time together, and now that they weren't trying so hard to be awkward, I was just like 'SQUEE!' the whole time. Especially with the last scene. Simon and Lloyd have some serious shit to work out though because all their sexual tension is pretty crazy. I feel like their relationship is way too much of an abusive one, though. Good thing Lloyd is getting out of that... except now he's KIDNAPPED!!!!! I was SO SUSPICIOUS OF THOSE EMTs. I WONDER IF SIMON HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS. OH NOES. Poor bb Duncan. Now he is probably going to end up living at the Benford's and hanging out with their daughter, which is going to be totally cute though.

JAZZ! GUESS WHAT I FINALLY STARTED WATCHING BAND OF BROTHERS with my friend! WE ARE ON EPISODE FIVE AND I AM DYING, HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT.

HANKS AND SPIELBERG ARE BLOWING MY MIND AND BREAKING MY HEART.
The imagery, the cinematography, the acting, the varying nature of each episode, the effects and transitions, the way we are just plopped right into the middle of Easy Company... I AM IN LOVE. SO IN LOVE.

EPISODE FIVE OWNS MY FUCKING SOUL.

The transitions and the fluidity by which they were able to pass in and out of past events... How Winters continually suffers from that incident and that situation and they way they show us all the little details that are easy to forget about but are so important... I shivered on several occasions. And then when Nixon comes into the room where Winters is typing and immediately changes the mood and the way they communicate with and look at each other and they don't even needs words most of the time and not to mention the beginning of part five where Winters calls him Lew when he's trying to wake him up. aldfjaldjsflakjdlajfdlajfdlakf.

NO WORDS.

I don't really adore the Glee kids' voices. I love random gay couples being incorporated on major network shows ~~(Wait, was that asian dude the guy from FlashForward?!)~~ but sometimes it feels forced; almost like they are pandering. But maybe I just read too much into it. There was some good gay marriage discussion at the beginning, though :)

Finally watched the newest ep! Sorry for avoiding flist lately b/c of spoilers. :P

HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK. WAS THAT NOT THE MOST EPIC EPISODE EVER?!?!!?!?!!

I can't even find the words. Dean wants his necklace back so damn much. And then he randomly throws in the whole ~~Sam~~ Bert and ~~Dean~~ Ernie are gay part. And Sam not calling Dean even though he wanted to and then those hunters trying to fuck up Sam because he didn't help them and Dean not being there to help him and Dean dying a little inside and I CRIED.

Totally did not know what was up with the Jessica appearance until... BAM. HOLY SHIT. LUCIFER.

Castiel and his facial expressions were hilarious.

Bobby in a wheelchair breaks my heart.

I love the ying and yang/balance concept Supernatural plays with. Good and Evil are just two sides of the same coin. Just as the boys fight for balance in their relationship, the world is fighting to find balance between heaven and hell.
